How to Construct Strict Conical Limits in a Category of Fibrant Objects

Declan Zammitยท9 September 2026

Say we are working in the subcategory of fibrant objects of a Cat-enriched model category. The kinds of limits that are native here are the flexible limits, which for example generalise pseudolimits. But there are examples of strict conical limits that we have around in this setting, such as pullbacks along fibrations or limits of towers of fibrations, which are not prima facie flexible. In this talk, inspired by a trick discovered by John Bourke, we will show how to construct these limits from flexible limits.
